Literacy Connections is dedicated to developing and offering programs and services to support a literate society. We recruit and train volunteers to provide no-cost student-centered tutoring primarily for adults, and we offer programs and services for children and families that promote independence and enrichment through literacy.
Programs & Services
Literacy Connections is a charitable organization devoted to providing basic literacy education for adults, and literacy support and enrichment for children. We provide program services in four counties in the Hudson Valley: Dutchess, Columbia, Greene and Orange Counties.
We welcome volunteers to become tutors, to read to children, to help in the office, to assist with the Annual Community Spelling Bee or holiday gift wrapping, and a variety of other projects all designed to help people to read, write, and reach their potential.
The Community Spelling BEE is our signature event held each spring in Dutchess County. The BEE directly supports literacy services for adults & children in our community. It is supported by more than 60 businesses & organizations, and it is designed to bring people together to have fun for a good cause.
