There are adults in our community who do not read well enough to get a job, or help their children in school. Literacy Connections provides free tutoring for adults by recruiting, training & supporting volunteers. Our programs include individual and group tutoring, family literacy, and reading enrichment for children.
Helping to eradicate illiteracy is vital to the quality of life for individuals, for families, and for the community…but we cannot do it without your help. For those of us who can read, it’s hard to imagine what our lives would be like if we could not read.
The Annual Community Spelling Bee
supports reading programs for adults and families throughout Dutchess County.
Our services are helping people to obtain a GED, become US Citizens, and to
get better jobs. They are reading to their children, and helping them become
better students. Success in literacy truly changes lives—we see this
every day!
